Reserved Static IPs

When hosting production inference endpoints, custom webhooks, or public DNS records, having your public IP address change every time an instance is paused or rebooted creates disruption.

NovaPod Reserved IPs allow you to allocate static public IPv4 addresses that remain permanently tied to your account.

How It Works

  1. Allocate: Reserve a static IPv4 address in your preferred datacenter region.
  2. Attach: Bind the reserved IP to any running or stopped Root KVM VM.
  3. Persist: When you pause your VM to save GPU compute costs, your reserved IP stays active.
  4. Re-attach: You can detach the IP from an older VM and immediately bind it to a newly launched instance without changing external DNS records.

Managing Reserved IPs

Via CLI

# Allocate a new static IP in US-East
np ip allocate --region us-east

# Output: Reserved IP allocated: 198.51.100.42

# Associate with an instance
np ip bind --ip 198.51.100.42 --vm production-vllm-node

# Release when no longer needed
np ip release --ip 198.51.100.42

Pricing

  • Free while attached to an active running GPU VM.
  • $0.005/hour while unattached or held during stopped instances to prevent IP hoarding.
